Dear Mama Poem by Dorothy (Alves) Holmes

Dear Mama

When I was just a child,
I was allowed to roam so free, can not
count the ways you showed your love for me.
My zest for living a happy life, began in that childhood paradise.
Blessings which instilled independence and strength of character,
I knew you trusted me, I aimed always to do my best and I
count the gifts your love bestowed, filling my heart with song.
You said I could sing before I could talk, God's gift to me, until the
end.
Twice blessed, with you as my mother and best friend.
