Dear Innocence Poem by G. Akanji Olaniyi

Dear Innocence

I have refused to write you a letter
Meeting with you face-to-face is better
Why did you choose me so early?
The time I knew so barely

Instead of leaving soon, you transformed to ignorance
Then you gave me little or no chance
While I stood there in the barrage of attacks
You held on tight, but there were many barracks

Now, I have been drenched in the rains
Gratitude for breaking free, off the your chains
If I have to pass through another time
I will never let you possess a dime
