Dear God... An Ardent Prayer Poem by Dr John Celes

Dear God... An Ardent Prayer

You only know me too well
You know me much better than I do myself
You know all things about me in detail
You know my secrets, wants, desires and ambitions
You know my iniquities, trespasses and merits in life
You know how to care for me always
You love me more than I can reciprocate
You give me so many things I didn’t deserve
You know my mind, heart, body and soul
You see my heart and read my thought
You protect me from foes unknown and known
You chalk my future well ahead
You help me even before I ask
You do all things that’s best for me
You guide me in your ways so well
You give me freedom to do your will
You called me by name before I was born
You talked to me while I lay in my mother’s womb
You bless me all through my life
You give me grace to do great things
You do miracles so often for me
You are my only God, the living, loving one
You are my only Master whom I must serve
You are my creator and Lord of the Universe
You hear my pleas and answer my prayers
You are the only one wise, omnipotent and omniscient
You are fair to every creature you made
You do all things in your own sweet time and ways
You know what’s not good for me
You walk beside me in my earthly lanes
You lift me up whenever I fall
You are my Good Shepherd and I, your sheep
You take me to the meadows with the sweetest grass
You quench my thirst with water so clean
You search and find me when I go astray
You give me grace to do your will
You help me keep my soul pure always
You forgive my faults and blunders, sins
You made me for a purpose you know best
You love me and want me to be sinless
You wrote my name upon your palm
You are an awesome, amazing Father
You sent your only Son Jesus to suffer on the cross
You paid the ransom for my sins beforehand by His death
You have readied a place for me in heaven through Christ
You made me out of sheer love and love me immensely
Your Son and Savior Christ will come to judge each one of us
Thank you O God, my Lord, my all
You long to meet me again in your abode
O loving Father, keep me righteous throughout
Punish me if need be to do so
I am your servant Lord and you are my Master
But still you call me your child, dear Father God
Plunge my sins into the depths of the seas
Forgive my crimes and help me repent
I shouldn't miss eternity in heaven
I can trounce Satan and his evil band like how Jesus did
All good deeds I do is just by your grace and not by my strength
I long to leave the world of imperfection and sufferings
I wish to say my Good-bye to earth in your time and way
Amen.
