Dear Diary Poem by Mitchell Hood

Dear Diary

Dear Diary, date: November 23rd
I almost can’t describe my feelings in words
Of course there’s the usual- my parents are dumb
And until today I didn’t like what my life had become
But I met a girl this afternoon, so pretty and sweet
I must admit, dear Diary, she swept me off my feet
Our eyes locked for just a moment from across the room
I moved over a little closer and caught a whiff of her perfume
I smiled at her and she put on a gentle grin
I hadn’t quite planned how the chat would begin
But before I could speak, she blurted out, “Hi”
I was suddenly tongue-tied and I didn’t know why
But I managed to respond with a “hi” of my own
By the end of the class, a conversation had grown
The bell rang to move on and I didn’t want to go
Lost in her deep eyes, I softly sighed, “So…”
She paused for a moment- sweet silence, pure bliss
For that one perfect moment, we embraced in a kiss
This may sound a bit stupid, as my entries often are
But today, dear Diary, has been my best day so far.
