“deals With The Devil” Poem by Lisa Visor

“deals With The Devil”

And I looked death straight in the eyes
And dared him to come near
Wondering what I’d got myself into
I shivered and chased fear
As if he could read my mind
His reply this time
“I’ve come for your soul! ”
Heard you wanted to make a deal
I stood my ground
Told him I don’t make deals with the devil
He laughed and “said maybe not now but you will! ”
“When the pain gets so deep,
and misery drags up a chair.”
I looked death straight in the eyes
and dared him to come near
I shivered once more then chased away fear
