Deadbeat Dreamboat

  He's a deadbeat.
An unmotivated uneducated uninterested
Slacker.
We always fight - about
Jobs, about family, about rent.

And yet... Sometimes,
Afterwards,
As we lie there
He stares into my eyes
Says ' 'ello luv'
in his Shadwell accent
& Softly
Strokes my temple
With his thumb
Ever so gently,
With such tenderness.

Though only for a moment -
And only sometimes.

But it's beautiful
& perfect
And makes worth all the bullocks.
