Dead puppy - wailing bitch

On the hot tarmac the bloody puppy lies
A bitch wails sky ward on the side walk
Looking nowhere in particular

Poet's Notes about The Poem

On my morning walk I chanced upon this gory scene. The puppy was crushed when it had tried to cross the busy road and its mother was wailing at the side walk in a very distinct voice of grief. Who say animals do not have feelings more profound than us? For the first time I felt sorry to be born human.

A common sight brought out in such poignant intensity. Even for a dog, the death of one of her pups is a pain unbearable! But we callously drive to our destnation, seeing a bleeding brother lying by the road side! ! (Report) Reply

So true! I know the pain. Before marriage, I was in a working girls' hostel. On that day none was with me.I had two cats. They used to sleep with me.At night, one of them, pulled my hand.I woke up.She wanted to tell me something. She was running and acted as a dog. Then, I heard, whisper of some guys.Anyhow, they entered into the hostel.I tried to contact the security guard. But, he didn't pick up the phone. Then, I dialed 100.And, they fled before the police came.I get appalled when I think of that experience.I know, they are more human than us!
