Days Beyond Poem by Hasan Haskovic

Days Beyond

Counted days 'till the end
Spoke tales of the past
But never lived a day between
Never though it wouldn't last
Receded in front of every trial
Turned away from reminiscence
Embraced tides of decay with a smile
Drowned in the depth of my own fear

In these hollow bones
Concealed in heavy tones
Lies a darkness heavy
Made the glow in my eyes bleached
And in hours forgotten
Floats a thought un-reached
One of marking every day
When I was rid of dismay

And from today 'till the end
I'll mark every mellow hour I spend
And I'll look skywards
Live the sunset and feel the wind
In the days beyond there will be no comfort
Just a feeling of warmth towards distrust
Just a grueling end beyond our reach
And the scent of metal rust

In threats miss-judged
Reigns a thought justified beyond belief
Beyond worry
Beyond faith
The thought of never reaching the end
And still knowing it's there
And the thought that life has a purpose
Is something no soul can bear
Look up, look up
There it is, doom impending
So put up a smile and live the days
And walk towards the skylines bending
Everything has it's start and it's ending
Except my soul, not worth mending
Live before the days beyond
Before the days I feel contempt
Before the days I feel love
Before the days beyond
