Day-Old Jacket Poem by Janine Alyssa Navarro

Day-Old Jacket

Cold sweat trickles from my forehead;
I shouldn't be afraid, even if the sirens
Ring past this reassuring day-old jacket
The movie ticket is still intact
In my yearning pocket of thoughts
Will you still stay even if the hard snow
Would stay rigid on your light door
You're too nice, I like your warm, dark hair
According to tomorrow's plans
I think we were supposed to hug and kiss
But maybe for now I'm fine with just
Holding your blushing palms
I've nothing to offer but my solemn word
That I'm trying my hardest to say
What you should know and hold on to
