Day Of Deliverance Poem by Narayanan Nair. P Perunthanam

Day Of Deliverance

Today, a day of deliverance -
Fifteenth of August for Indians
From the despotic exploitations
The imperialists imposed upon us.
Today, confused over the scenario
Of the political pollution: the woe
Made. Fellowmen and I stand on toe
To suffer from pledged thoughts raw.
Hoping against the hope we wait
For a man of civility and height
Proven by thought, word and action:
A Buddha for our True Liberation.

A Beautiful poem especially on our 68th Independence day. Since independence, we cannot tell we didn't made any progress, we have progressed much, at the same time corruption and violence too are the set back for our progress. Thanks for the beautiful write. Loved reading it.

Debatable though, the Day of Freedom ascending the look of a strange Deliverance is often our feeling. With the building made of fine bricks we hope to dwell within it for long. The crumbled images of uneven debris should not deter our minds. Thank you sir for writing on our RED LETTER DAY. In fact, I thought why should I write on the topic again and now learn from you that we poets must remember our India at least on Aug 15, Oct 2 and Jan 26.

Very sincere poem. Being away from India I can not say much accept that when ever I visit I see a combination of progress and also problems. There is always an aspiration in younger generation to do better and a hope for a brighter future.

After 67 years of our independence, when we look back, we don't have much to boast of. Yet we can feel comforted that we have come a long way, though much more remains to be achieved. Let us hope that under an able premiership, India will be able to make better progress with some control over the rampant corruption and violence! A timely write!
