Daughter's Back
Daughter's gone, daughter's gone,
Still my memories linger on;
All those moments through the years
Fraught with anguish, doubts and fears.
Yes she left before her time,
Changing patterns with life's rhyme;
Left our nest in love, unschooled
And we judged her sadly fooled.
Seventeen's a fright-filled age,
With emotions on rampage;
There she left, forevermore,
Left the welcome of our door.
Now, she's gone and wedded, schooled,
Leaving us completely fooled.
Though she left before her time,
She's in cadence with life's rhyme.
She is back and living near,
Freeing us from doubts and fear;
No more singing that sad song-
Daughter's gone, daughter's gone.

Excellent poem Joseph - they usually do return in the fullness of time, one way or another. Mine has gone to London, but says she will come back north - eventually! ! Enjoyed reading.
There is all the reason for you to rejoice! Your daughter who once fooled you arousing unnecessary anxieties in you has come back once more fooling you by proving that your onetime fears were out of place! Yes, seventeen is a turbulent age for most of the youngsters. With age she has mellowed down! So you needn't anymore chant that song of loss! Here I see the joy of a proud father! I also join in your joy! An inspired write

Mine are leaving as they age, but as with yours hopefully never too far away.
children are always loving to parent. they may be doing several mischief yet always loving. parent always like to see them happy. so your happiness is natural.though i dont have any daughter but i think daughters are more loving to father. regards
