Darwin's Finches Poem by L'Angley S Delmonte

Darwin's Finches

I said love was a joke
Through figurative blood
My soul spoiled because of that
Chin deep in metaphorical mud
I said love was a lie
Around carcinogens
You said if that was true,
Then to love must be to sin
I said that love is taught, and
You said that from the start
I've thought too much of science
And I musn't have a heart
But the heart just pumps blood through the veins
Which is a curse upon my soul, or to me,
upon my brain.
