Darkness Surrounds Poem by Shalom Freedman

Darkness Surrounds

Rating: 5.0

DARKNESS SURROUNDS

It is still night
Darkness surrounds
And I sit in a small space of light
Inside I write in quiet and peace
Outside the War goes on

Once I knew what it was to live
Without others trying to destroy
What I most care about

But that was in another world long ago

For forty years now
I have lived with their hatred
And their trying to kill us

For forty years
There has been violence
And the threat of greater violence

It is quiet inside
And the darkness is everywhere
I go on in this tiny space
Waiting for the morning to come.

This great poet writes the TRUTH. Read it so you too may know it. And may the people of this country never have to face anything like this. But remember, and know it for our Truth, they are after Us Too!
