Dark Tonight Poem by Tondana Fatimah Seebaway

Dark Tonight

The sky looked rather dark tonight
It sadly did not look so bright
I looked up and did not find the moon in sight
And the stars? They were not shedding their light
This filled my heart with fright
As I stood still wondering why

So I took a long stroll
As I suddenly felt all alone
Wishing that the stars and the moon
Upon my request would not moan
But would gladly accompany me home

Would they come? I did not know
Feeling so disappointed and low
Lo and behold as I turned to go
The moon finally came and gave its glow
Appearing beneath the clouds as dark as coal
Which seemed to give it shelter from the cold

We walked smiling and engaging in laughter
As we indulged in a pretty jolly chatter
With time the stars started to gather
And we all felt happy having a good time together
So much so that we failed to remember
That we would have to say goodbye to one another

The dreadful moment finally came
We have no power, it's always been the same
But as we parted ways grimacing in pain
The hope for another blissful encounter again
Was our only thought and our sole aim
