Dark Night Poem by Julius Odunusi

Dark Night

Dark Night
Friday, March 25,2011 - 12: 35AM

Black cloud
Adorn in bleak shroud
Alas tonight! Miss Misery doth sigh
For want of her many radiant eyes
No! Not one gazed down from afar
But for that lone star
Shooting upon its deathly trip
For the Knight, tonight, was gone to that deep sleep
Dreamless yet full of dreams
That would be, if they could be, streams
As the winged, on endless flight
Yea! It was a dark night.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Depressed and forlorn, i mourned the death of my friend Ernest a.k.a. C-Djon; a young and quite promising stand-up comedian, who had just begun rising to prominence on the national entertainment scene in Nigeria. I never meant to write this for public consumption but then i realized that there are many who may have gone through a similar experience. This is to let you know that though the pain of your loss may never pass but you must appreciate the time you shared before their passing. Life might be short, but it is worth it so live it.
