Dance Under Moonlight Poem by Jessica Millsaps

Dance Under Moonlight

The music rushes through me
I feel each muscle moving
And I dare not look away
For your eyes hold me up

The air is tight with our tension
The wind hardly blows
And if you dared to notice
We are watched
Watched by the moon

She is big and bright
Giving us the light to dance upon
We move with expertise
Even though we have none

The rythm takes hold and I feel swept up off my feet
The music takes a plunge and we pause
Daring only to look into each others eyes
It starts again

I feel each breath, each movement, each second
Eternity lasts and then some
And yet, I need more
More to dance, more to live, more to be

Passionate fire burns throughout us
And then, we part, only to meet in each others arms once more
The dance must go on
And it does

Magically, I feel the air disappear from under my feet
I am swept away into the land of dreams
With you, now and forever more
