Dam On The Nile Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Dam On The Nile

Dam on the Nile

Renaissance is the Dam on the Nile
Slogan: “We will build regardless.”

I was there, among them who sought help
Monetary, all supports…they remind:
“We have done…and have come…”
Means so far:
“Take our hand; don’t forget.”
So I pay, and I eat, and drink
Mamani has fed me with her hand
(Example)

My mind is a wild horse, unicorn,
Or Santa’s in skies…of the past:

I’m cadet on cables and he comes
Haile Selassie, Ethiopia’s Emperor.

I am an officer, we fly to Sudan
We, the dogs of the dogs have message
For Gaafar Nimeiry, to convert.

Once again officer, Nairobi and Cairo
And this time a message for Sadat.

Dogs of dogs we advise: “West is best.”
(And how wrong!)

They became westerners; and now gone
Behind them are only
Disasters and the wars and flood of blood.
In my mind I feel as partner to crime …
And question: “Why did I? ”
I was dog of the dog of the dog! ! !

Nile is now an orphan, Ethiopia was torn too
Now in North Africa is the most-stable
Sudan too divided and Egypt, prison for brains.

This dam will, sit on the poorest Nile
I see them with an eye DIFFERENT.
