D-E-A-D Poem by Marcquiese Burrell

D-E-A-D

To keep moving in a healthy direction
Have to keep my mind off not having a direct connection
Reflecting on times spent felt more brother-and-sister
Always thought it should be more hot-and-heavy
Had gotten rid of you like a fever blister
Being at different points we weren't ready
Even if we weren't together
I'd still enjoy the company
No alchohol, No drugs for me
It'll all end horribly
Giving us the possibility
To act on feelings that's untrue
A situation neither of us can undo
Want to keep you around in a semidetached way
The feelings are nonexistent
Together, we're the bacteria causing tooth decay
To the facts, I've been consistent
Just added to my recycle bin
Time destroys the innocent child within
Still pine after me? I like it hot, You're not,
My cup of tea
If this is going to be a problem, I'm through repeating
There's no need to remain in contact
I terminated your contract....
during, the business meeting
