Cutter Poem by Luna McLane

Cutter

She lays alone in the dark, clutching tightly to her pillow
Tears roll down her face as her body shakes with anxiety and frustration
The sadness engulfs her and devours her tender young soul like a lion ripping at the throat of a lamb
It chokes her into submission and she begins to sob
She desperately needs relief, like a dog with mange needs relief, but she can't find any, everything else she's tried has failed
So with hesitant longing she looks at the knife next to her
It lays peacefully next to her like a sleeping sea lion on the docks
She grabs it and assaults her soft skin
Warm lines of blood appear and attack and throw the terrifying beast out of her mind
Now she can finally breathe again
She lays back down again lets the warmth of the bed consume her like a baby bird consumes a worm
