Custers Last Stand Poem by ERNEST CLARY

Custers Last Stand

Another rainy night
moisture in the air
hours before the light
no time to spare

the light came
what was i fighting for
nothing was the same
as it was before

another battle to fight
no one seemed to care
the enemy within sight
all i did was stare

wondering what to do
reno and his men took a fall
pursued by the cheyenne and sioux
that killed them all

we headed to the big horn
across the rugged land
tired and battle torn
i made my last stand
