Cursed Poem by dino evans

Cursed

Rating: 5.0

Old friends are gone, and others leaving..
I stay and grieve, terrible grieving...
And think of time, we laughed in jest...
Seems I block out, all the rest...
Their time with me, was all too rare..
And if I try, dream of them there...
It doesn't bring me heartless pain...
But joy of knowing them again...

Lucky to have known at all...
Our seasons spent, on into fall...
The promise winter makes to me..
Cold wind reminds, what used to be...
The summer days, we played our games...
But now I go, and read the names...
Of friends who hold me in their dash...
Dust to dust, and ash to ash...

For I must be upon this earth...
To find the I hope I hope I'm worth...
I know there is a plan to be...
God has kept hidden from me...
It's written on the wind, they say...
Can I endure the one more day? ...
The loneliness of days released..
For friends, and friendship has not ceased...

I watch outside my window now...
For someone stopping by, but how? ...
I guess I'll have to go to them...
But years are passing, tell me when...
When will God decide to take me...
Not to leave me, not forsake me...
With broken heart, no happiness...
For all those lost, my loneliness...

I ponder as the ages pass..
Plant new flowers in their grass...
And though I cry a million tears...
I sit, and wait throughout the years...
I know that I will be the last...
Believing, dreaming of the past...
But gifted if I am, or cursed...
I fear the years to come the worst...

For I realize, that I'll be here...
Hoping for my final year...
After all.. have gone to be...
With Heaven that is kept from me...
I may have fallen on the way...
Perhaps I missed my fateful day..
If God has called, I wasn't near...
I stand and wait, year after year...

But maybe, one day I will go...
Like all loved ones, friends I know...
He makes me wait, and there is time...
What's gone in me is lost in mind...
Immortal? .. no, I'll live my life...
But see my kids, my friends, my wife...
All leave this earth, before I do...
That is my curse, the loss....of you..

But I must do, what I must do...
Be there, I'll catch up to you.........

COMMENTS OF THE POEM
Denis Martindale 25 February 2012

A suggestion for a final verse: And when we meet, for meet we will, No longer old, no longer ill, No longer pining day-by-day... As Jesus bids us all to stay... We'll bid farewell to all our tears, To all our foolish doubts and fears, As Jesus welcomes us, we'll sing Our sweet Hosannas to our King!
