Cupid's Vengeful Arrows Of Hate And Love Poem by Normy Amin

Cupid's Vengeful Arrows Of Hate And Love

Rating: 4.3

Jiggly Cupid,
Cackling like the crackling fire,
Shameless.

What he stands for is love, they say,
But he
Wreaks havoc on poor souls.

With a golden arrow, he shoots love;
With lead arrow, he fires hate.
He aims for
the bloody, messy core

Of all man's deepest desire.
Victims bleed with hurt.

Disillusioned,
"lovers" give in to despair.

Vengeful little cupid,
filled with contempt for Apollo,
stabbed Daphne, Apollo's love,

with a poisoning lead arrow
And pierced Apollo's heart
with a longing gold.

Apollo fell in a stupor,
Daphne ran away, unrelenting,

Daphne prayed the gods turn her
into something which cannot be loved.
So they turned her into a tree,
Much to Apollo's despair.
Cupid howled with laughter
in the shadows,
Soiling his snuggly diaper.

Illusions are his chessboard
And mortals' hearts are his pawns.
