Crossroad Poem by R B Seals

Crossroad

Rating: 5.0

Without doubt
If he has his way,
He'll move more
Than mere inches today.

No time for fun
In warming rays of noonday sun
Pursuing quest or fame,
As steadfast consistency
Must be his aim.

Poised at pavement's edge
He's ready to charge,
Despite the eighteen-wheeler
Down the road, loomin' large.

Rock steady, he scans
Across the great expanse;
Driven by steely nerves
And instinctive urge,
He's ready to take the chance.

With guts ‘n determination he
Sets off with purposeful stride,
Any fear or reservations
Are left behind, at roadside.

With measured movements
He works to cross the gap,
While avoiding too close encounter
With mammoth machine
—With tires, eighteen—
And prospect of mishap.

Knowing no time to waste
He moves with his brand of haste
Plodding along—swiftly—to
Achieve his goals: to win his life,
To win the race.

Defying all certainty,
He deftly maneuvered
Between tires and tread—
Keeping eyes on prize ahead.
With faith, skill and tenacity
(And perhaps a little luck)
He prevailed over road and truck.

Remember…in closing
It can truly be said,
Challenges are not only
Found in the moment, but
Also on the road ahead!
