~ Critics Poem by Adeline Foster

~ Critics

Each of us need critics,
But all of us need friends;
To know the role you’re playing
Is wisdom without end.

Some criticize for pleasure,
Some criticize for love,
Some criticize and never know
Which they’re guilty of.

For that green worm of jealousy
Can creep into a heart
Disguised as helpful caring
And force dear friends apart.

i agree with the second verse...honestly, i often wonder why people become so critics for pleasure....

Such a touchy thing being a critic. Good intentions can be confused by the critic and the one being criticized. No one likes correction and sometimes we lie to our self and pretend our criticism is us trying to help and not us being intimidated by another..But nothing stings more than trying to offer your honest opinion in a helpful way and having it offend someone you care about. Especially if it is true and the way we learned it was the hard way. Rebuke a wise man and you will gain a friend, ..Rebuke a fool and you will reap a whirlwind of scorn that might last forever. Nice job.

the rhythm is kind of basic, but i like your choice of words and the message they deliver.

Criticism is just someone else's opinion, so even if it comes from love, they aren't in your shoes. Great poem Adeline, I am enjoying the thought processes from your words. Nessy x
