Cricket Has Become More.... Poem by Samanyan Lakshminarayanan

Cricket Has Become More....

Rating: 5.0

A ten and two would play
a two and one to umpire..and
so..so..a many to watch
mind you...
i never used the word 'fool' anywhere
how could i
who am i
what would become of me....amidst
so...so...a many who watch

More than a game this has become
a gamble
a business
a show of glamour
excepting the pitch...every body
seems to have moved out
why only this game i don't know
the ball seems to have reached the sky
cricket has become more than a game now

Cricket is also a game that requires lot of skill, not just luck. If luck can help win games, even a street-side team can beat a National team. That is not the case/

Not only cricket, but others games too. If these games have become so glamorous, the reason is not the players but the sponsors. Who make the sponsors rich? Again, people like us. These sponsors know how to net us. The young generation has no discrimination in spending their income. They have enough in their pocket. Parents have practically no control over their children. What to do? This is also one kind of socialism. Nature will not allow you to be rich more than a limit. You are bound to throw it away. In this case, it reaches not the poor people but an elate class. At any rate, Nature empties your pocket. It reaches the playgrounds, the liquor shops, the carnival places, the gambling places etc. This is only the truth.
