Creature Confined; Monster Defined Poem by Dakota Ellerton

Creature Confined; Monster Defined

Who are you to spew that poison
spread the disease with lies
never can this thing be caught
ripped from bonding ties

Like a trapped beast
confined behind my rib cage
it grows more angry in solitude
It's birthing a new rage

Hold your breath and walk by silent
Don't look it in the eye
the true nature of this lonely creature
is to grasp the host and die

Showing you things you'd never think
doing things you never do
overdosing in the night
to the morning it'd see you through

Sleepless nights
shaking days
vomit you spew so thick
left a dizzy haze

Still you lay there
dreaming of death
the creature has won
breathe your last breath
