Cracker Kingfisher Poem by Jayatissa K. Liyanage

Cracker Kingfisher

Rose anew afresh, millennium sun
Casting bright technological rays akin
Shaken some, when others smiled, and
Adjusted who ever could, to ride straight on

The Kingfisher, the fishing King eminent
Abiding by up-held culture ‘n tradition
Catches fish by perching and watching
Found fish defy him, ere he sees them

Fish, growing wiser, smart and clever
Kingfisher, knowing, desired to be smarter
Thinking rationally, acting smart, to be better
Face circumstance, out of blues, like a cracker

Comes down from bough, a crumb, he found
Sits on the ground and throws it to pond
Waits, holding it beside, for the fish to get
Dreams, Kingfisher, of a plenteous catch

Cracker Kingfisher
POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Poem is based on a video clip released to the media. In this, a kingfisher truly uses a bread crumb very purposely to bait fish. it certainly surprised me.
