Corruption Poem by Sandra Feldman

Corruption

Rating: 5.0

This used to be,
The cradle of Democracy,
An example, a light,
Against, Tyranny,
America the just, the beautiful,
Knew what was suitable,
No more, my friends!
A climate of illegality reigns,
Throughout the land,
Corruption has taken upper hand,
There is deep anger for the wrongdoings
Of a lot of elected hands,
The Government, for the People,
And by the People,
Has turned to bitter sand.

COMMENTS OF THE POEM

We the people of the world do recall the history of United States especially after assigning itself it's own constitution more than 200 years ago which still serves as a beacon of light for others. The degeneration of old values hurts all lovers of democratic establishments through out the world as much as they do in America.

Sandra, Your poem is another in what I hope is a long line of poems, written by poets who care about our country and what it stands for. Your poem is a guiding light by which others may follow. Greed and corruption have gone far enough and now it is time to take back what belongs to us! Great and true message lying here in your poem, thank you. Also, thank you for your comments on my poems, I humbly appreciate your opinion and am honored that you have praised them so graciously. Thank you. RoseAnn

Right you are, Sandracita! But American political corruption has been even worse at earlier periods. I'd like to believe that, at some point in the future, after corruption as become (as is likely) even worse than it is today, that the American people will say, Enough is enough and take back their country. That is my dream. Whether it will come true... who can tell?

I'm so sorry, it's the second time tonight when I talk about greed that is the cause of corruption as well as it's the cause of wars. It's hard times for many countries and for all humanity. Yet it's so hopeful to see that people don't want to be blind, deaf and silent, and they care about the truth. Thank you for this poem, Sandra!
