Contentment Poem by Leonard McGee

Contentment

Rating: 5.0

We shared yesterday,
and we have today,
with nothing to follow
Because you forgot the past,
ignored the present,
and forfeited tomorrow

We fueled our hopes,
and chased our dreams,
with no real result
Because I closed my mind,
doubted the possibilities,
and just fought

We had mutual trust,
and complete respect,
with no kind of bond
Because we lacked expression,
sacrificed passion,
and stopped having fun

We had loving hearts,
thoughtful minds,
with no real commitment
Because we chose toleration,
left things unsaid, and
settled for contentment

Expression, Passion, committment. Wonderful things that are often so much lacking in today's world. I think a lot of relationships are short-lived because of a lack of these wonderful things. Good write, Leonard.
