Contemplating Poem by Jeremy Williams

Contemplating

Yesterday I was sat there contemplating
What would happen when you went away
Although I know I'd think of you every single day
I can't help admitting distance would get in the way
But before you go I just need to say
If it wasn't for this situation
I think our feelings would stay

Yesterday I was sat there contemplating
What would happen when you went away
A year is a very long time
A period after which you wouldn't be mine
We would have both gone through change
But I still think that it would be nice sometime
That if we could meet up and drink some wine

Yesterday I was sat there contemplating
What would happen when you went away
Although I know it won't be easy to do
I would like very much to stay in touch with you
What we had was for me very special
You opened me up and let me see
What is a very different side to me

Yesterday I was sat there contemplating
What would happen when you went away
I know that we will both move on
To pastures green and new
But I am so extremely privileged
To have spent this short time with you
