Consequences Of A U.S. Soldier In Iraq Poem by Katherine Tylor McCall

Consequences Of A U.S. Soldier In Iraq

Well I' been sittin' thinkin' here,
Sippin' on a pint O' beer,
Wonderin' why she went an' left me all alone.

I guess I thought I done her good,
I stood beside 'er when I could-
An' would'a gave 'er everything I ever owned.

We might'a yelled,
We might'a fought.
I might'a yelled more than I ought',
But she sure as hell threw in a smack or two.

So's now I guess she's gone for good,
I would'a kept 'er if I could,
An' now my life is back to empty,
Right on queue.
