Conscious Monkey Poem by Randy Todd

Conscious Monkey

light
distorted through the window
bends my reflection
blackly
back to me

storm
in the fourth dimension
sending ripples
through my identity so

who am i
who are you
my cells inside
divide in two

to intertwine
who i was and
who i will be

destiny
is the heart
growing out
onto the skin
in a smile
in our eyes
the power that lies
within

tricks and trust
we can both manifest
truly
if only progress
was a measure of integrity
where would we be

destiny
is the heart
growing out
onto the skin
in a smile
in our eyes
the power that lies
within

is a child
in an ancient tree
who am i
not to be
what we are
what are we

the concientious or the conscious
the concientious or the conscious

moon on the tide
watching me
a second eye
below the distant line
possibility
crying what could be

a child
in an ancient tree
who am i
not to be
what we are
what are we

the concientious or the conscious
the concientious or the conscious monkey

in the dark
is an empty space
controlled by love
or spoiled by hate
our progeny
will light their way
by how we shine today

tout le monde
everybody
tout le monde
everybody
