Confused In The Middle Of A Stage-Fright Poem by Jamal Pineda

Confused In The Middle Of A Stage-Fright

sing to me the sweet song of the Muses,
for i will listen and be mesmerized.
speak the truth that troubles your heart,
for I'll tell nothing but lies.

because we are alone in this stadium,
no one witnesses our stupidity.
we dance to the eerie music of our silence,
no identity, just plain anonymity.

share me the thoughts your mind conceives,
for i will absorb all that is what you’re thinking.
explain to me the shame you have put on yourself,
narcissistic, idiotic yet amusing..

because we are together in this theater,
aghast yet accepting this solitary.
we welcome the pain of our suffering,
at the center of the stage, we see the seats are empty.

humor me with the wit of the Satyrs,
and we'll laugh at what you'll say.
oblivious to the truth that we're alone,
yet I'm stuck with you, but please, if i may
leave this coliseum. desert you, and go far and away.

it's just an idea of how stupid my stage-fright is.
