Confused Frustration Poem by Elizabeth Jacqueline Mpanga

Confused Frustration

The frustration in my chest is vast that when I inhale it exhales
I ponder about happiness and its pursuit
Yet it eludes me with ease
My spirit keeps fighting to get out but is held back by self doubt

The very essence of my existence is murky and smeared with hatred and envy
When I'm alone I love my life, yet am ashamed that I can not be happy with it
My eyes tell a hundred tales
Tales of broken dreams and lost hope

A heart once full of gleeful hope is filled with poignant refrain
A face once full of bliss is now filled with disdain
I hold back my tears for it is the only thing I can do not to fall apart
