Confinement Poem by David Cooper

Confinement

Like Dunbar
A caged bird
Cannot fly.
I spread my wings& try,
But
A caged bird
can not fly.
I
Long to soar
& touch the sky,
But
A caged bird
Can not fly.
Bound by
Race and region
And poverty-

Yet
I try,
But neither
A caged bird
Nor I can fly.

Like Dunbar
A caged bird
Cannot fly.
I spread my wings& try,
But
A caged bird
can not fly.
I
Long to soar
& touch the sky,
But
A caged bird
Can not fly.
Bound by
Race and region
And poverty-

Yet
I try,
But neither
A caged bird
Nor I can fly.
