Confessions Of A Soldier Poem by emerson achari

Confessions Of A Soldier

I do not wish to hide from you truth
nor hide the evils of pain or war

I fear my time has come
I fear my end near
I fear not of me, but you
I fear and will fear
as long as my love for you is dear

As i sit rocking gently
As if the seas have taken pity
on those hundreds dead
And i fear...

I do not wish to hide from you truth
nor hide the evils of pain or war

For my country I fight
For you i wish..
I wish to take flight
Hopeless, the situation is

My love for you dear
My love for my country endear
I try to believe
for a better future i fight
But then i will be lying

I do not wish to hide from you truth
nor hide the evils of pain or war

I am torn
Country, family
justice, lineage

You told me not to go
You begged me to stay
You willed me never to go astray
It pained you so as i left
so naive, your love for me was

I wished now that i had not failed you so
I wished now that i had listened
I wished now that i had been with you,
by your bedside

So sorry i am
I cannot be there
Not for you
nor the new one

I promise you now I Will Return
Alive and Whole i hope
Shift Earth and Sky i will
All to be by your side..........

So sorry i am
to tell you now
My friend
your husband no longer alive..

I DO NOT WISH TO HIDE FROM YOU TRUTH
NOR HIDE THE EVILS OF PAIN OR DEATH
