Confessions Poem by J M. Basey

Confessions

Rating: 5.0

It's about time I told the truth,
To put you all in the know,
About how I feel,
So here I go,

I've had a tough life,
Going through many ups and downs,
Expressing myself through,
Numerous smiles and frowns,

So I'm about to release,
My poetic voice,
'Cos I'm realising,
That I've got a choice,

These are my confessions,
I finally know what to do,
To stop me feeling ever so blue,
So what I've got to do,
Is to reveal my confessions,
To fulfill my dream and become a man,
'Cos the boy that's within I cannot stand,
So these are my confessions,

At the present time,
All I think about is my death,
But at the end of the day,
I wouldn't call this progress,

So this is how it is,

My ex-girlfriend rang me up,
Saying she had my kid on the way,
I just put the phone down,
I mean what more could I say,

I was only fifteen,
And becoming a dad,
I didn't tell my family,
They would have been so mad,

Four days later I rang her and said,
I want to be part of our child's life,
She said well lets get married,
I want to be your wife,

These are my confessions,
I finally know what to do,
To stop me feeling ever so blue,
So what I've got to do,
Is to reveal my confessions,
To fulfill my dream and become a man,
'Cos the boy that's within I cannot stand,
So these are my confessions,

That completely caught me off guard,
I said is that the right thing to do,
Are you sure you've had enough time,
To sit down and think this through,

At the end of the day I turned her down,
Still wanting to support my child in anyway I can,
She was wondering what was wrong with me,
Saying your still a boy, you're definitely not a man,

Well I'm not going to deny it,
She was not wrong, she was right,
But I was more of a man,
In not wanting to give up the fight,

These are my confessions,
I finally know what to do,
To stop me feeling ever so blue,
So what I've got to do,
Is to reveal my confessions,
To fulfill my dream and become a man,
'Cos the boy that's within I cannot stand,
So these are my confessions,

I couldn't stand being away from my son,
But To ease the pain, I got heavily into drugs,
Which I bought from some,
Low - life thugs

I've got to be honest,
That's when my life became a daze,
And even to such an extent,
An inescapable maze,

I'm sorry you have to here this,
But what I say is so true,
Also you can have a better understanding,
Of what I've been through,

These are my confessions,
I finally know what to do,
To stop me feeling ever so blue,
So what I've got to do,
Is to reveal my confessions,
To fulfill my dream and become a man,
'Cos the boy that's within I cannot stand,
So these are my confessions,

Thank you for listening,
To what I has to say,
In my own unique style,
I expressed my feeling's today,

Thank you,
