Conception Of Insouciance Poem by O Sudhir Janardhanan

Conception Of Insouciance

They lie transfixed
in a crossfire
of conflicting emotions,
leaning heavily on
sadness built on dreams.
Remembering the way
memory reads them,
smiles
tinged with grief shading.
Darkness eclipsing light.
The blurred edges
slowly crawling in.

He shivered and rumbled
an unresponsive ecstasy.
Today, like every night
he filled a gap in her,
just a vacancy.
Substitute,
a poor one at that.

Her legs trembled
at the agonies it bore.
Her womb, a wasteland
to aborted symbols
of loves errors.
Heartache, a constant.
Her body supine,
lips mouthing pain.
Mind registered
the splitting agony
of birth, apathy,
as she conceived.
