Complements Poem by Danny The Dreamer Boyd

Complements

I whined sincerely to a friend of mine:
About how hard it was to say hello,
And act ferociously that all's but fine,
Whilst—hand in hand—why, swiftly letting go.
It's heavy on my heart to comprehend:
How quick a change of heart can fall upon!
Hence fades whom you have sought to be a friend,
Or more—farewell! —and then again alone.
I know 'tis hopeless, this too late complaint;
How many a time I have complained before,
And but received a scent of you that's faint,
'n a bed which smells and yearns for way much more!
I've seen both cold and warm when there were two:
And e'en asleep I had not one of you!
