Competition, Games - Friends Or Foe Poem by Louie Levy

Competition, Games - Friends Or Foe

Games played, of winners and sore losers
Medals bestowed, all banners hung high
Sport the spirit, practice makes perfect,
where winning glorifies
Match the opponent components,
Physical members spec'd to order
Brawn versus Brawn, trained for a brained 'Knock Out'
Touch down for a goal, the score's applauded
Fun leads to violence, mans brute survival's to exist

Rules ignored, friends become foes
'Kill the Umpire', blind and unfair
Steroid reactions, death smiles in the bleachers
Cheer-lead with beauty, awaits their frolicked reward
Gang root with audience hostility, scrape with fertility
Youth need impress, distress and spiritually regress
Compete, incomplete, winning, defeating
Friends become foe, nations led of ruthless war game lords
Inflaming immature youth, for their deathly conquering rewards

All will ne'er be victors, an obituary legacy of
Tombstone engraving, 'Here unrests 'Winners and Losers'
May they re-incarnate as Peaceful and Loving spirits, having -
Evil treasured recollections of battered heads,
bones and evil tainted personas.
When will there ever be; an era of World Peace?
Fun games that be one of non competitive 'Team' endeavors
All victors over violence, aggression and Inhuman
controversial faith where inherent 'Love' be the 'Goals'
by whatever's Omni potently Universal

Congregate from within, exuberate that which
embraces of decent life. That of Empathy, Compassion
and inner spiritual teachings of those martyrs who
have immortally pleaded in vain that -
Love has ne'er been nor will truthfully be -
Deadly invasions brought about by the'
self destructive instinct to survive, by the annihilation
of all life form on Earth.

War Games hath no Victors
Play for Peace and Love will
inevitably Prevail

Louie Levy's sublime and majestic poem 'Competition, Games - Friends or Foe' reveals a heightened sense of realities of war. There is no doubt that antiwar world poetry will have no future without the invaluable work done by Louie Levy. The extraordinary verbal felicity of the following lines will surely create a permanent interest in the readers' minds:

'Friends become foe, nations led of ruthless war game lords
Inflaming immature youth, for their deathly conquering rewards'
&
'War Games hath no Victors'

Strong, passionate social commentary. I hope some day we can all learn to 'play nice.' On 8/25/2008 JBStillwater (Janet Brennan) declared these words: Oh my dear Louie!
