Common Ground Poem by Jon M. Nelson

Common Ground

Where exactly did our priorities go?
This is something we may never know.
Family values are a thing of the past,
And our connections don’t seem to last.

The wars are senseless and have no point,
And the evening news will always disappoint.
There are children starving across the Earth,
They are treated like they have no worth.

Most big cities now are overrun by thugs,
And too many people are high on drugs.
In this world there’s too much violence,
Because too many people lack the sense.

Too many women and children get abused,
Which is a state that leaves us all confused.
We all must be able learn to rise above,
And be willing to help spread the love.

What can we do to turn this world around?
We all must find some type of common ground.
We’re all in this together on this planet,
But yet we are our own biggest threat.
