Colors By The Seashore Poem by Gayle Sweeney

Colors By The Seashore

This poem is intended for children too. I thought maybe a small book with a color on each page....

Blue
The summery sea is lovely since it is sunshiny blue.
It's blue far far away and the shimmery shore is blue, too.
Green
The soft white sand is dazzling by the blue waves under the sun.
A green pail for seashells sits beside the big, splashing ocean.
White
Most sea gulls have some pure white cloud feathers
Like the ocean spray.
Sunny days on the beach to sea gulls are happy holidays.
Yellow
Lots of young children love to play ball in the bright yellow sun
And when it gets real hot quickly to the blue water they run.
Orange
One lone sea gull called out with its beak opened up very wide.
Then orange like a tiger lily blossom was seen inside.
Purple
Pretty white sea shells found at some beaches
Have deep purple on them.
Some Indian tribes used polished shells for beads known as
Wampum.
Pink
A pink umbrella happily makes a little shaded sand.
The blue sea sparkles with bright stars alongside the dancing land.
Red
As the sun sinks down in the harbor the sky is rosy red.
It's time now for the boats to think about tucking into bed.
