Colors Poem by Jamieka Holmes

Colors

It’s a Blue Monday
and I woke up Red in the face
because something happened last night that left me in a Black place
the rain was Violet dripping down my face
my clothes were smudged with Brown and Grey
and the walls that surrounded me were Brass and Beige
laying among trash cans left for dead
all I can remember is an Ivory head
that held piercing Green eyes and hairs of Dark Red
as I stumbled to my feet I saw a bright White light
heard a voice of pure Gold yell, “Are you alright? ”
This man of Sienna came into my sight
he helped me to a safe place
a seat under Yellow lights
sirens of Crimson and Ultramarine
men of Cream, Cinnamon, Snow and Wheat rushed onto the scene
women and men in Dark Tangerine took me away so that I could be seen
resting in a room with Corn silk walls waiting on the final results
