College Days Poem by Melinda Butterfield

College Days

Well, we all went to school
to get some learnin' done.
And we had our share
engagin' in the fun.

We make a friend or two
along the way
those were the days
what can I say?

Those were the days when we would all
gather in the hall
smoke our cigarettes and smash them in the wall

(Chorus)
We were damned and careless
young and careless
we didn't know just yet
where we were bound
and we were young and careless
damned and careless
we all were lookin'
for a new world to be found.

As the days rolled by
we found another way
to add exitement
to our day

we never were the ones
to follow any rules
that's why we all dropped
out of school.

Those were the days
when we would all
jump into the car
peel up on Dixon street
and drink in all the bars.

We were young and careless
damned and careless
we didn't know just yet where we were bound
we were damned and careless
young and careless
we all were lookin'
for a new world to be found.

College days are golden days of life. I still remember my college days when I was young and careless too and was lookin' for a new world to be found, as you have described in your poem. Your poem arouses nostalgia. Regards Naseer
