Cold Feet Poem by Emma Good

Cold Feet

I shifted the stars so they would align for us, and you got cold feet.
I broke someone's heart to give us the chance we never had.
What happened you ask?
While you were fighting your demons my mind was left to wonder what happened.
My heart broke.
There was a fork in my road and I chose the road that lead me to you.
But where did you go?
Soul searching, you say.
You forgot that my feelings were involved too.
You were my souls best friend, but your soul walked away from mine.
I no longer felt you.
Now you return 3 months later...you expect me to just embrace you again?
My soul still yearns for you.
I lay here and call out your name in my mind.
But this time I have to be stronger than I was.
I shifted the stars for us, and you got cold feet.
