Closing Time Poem by Jeri Martindale

Closing Time

Filling these page with thoughts of mine, good ones, bad ones, endless rhymes.

What do I seek out of this life of mine, I feel as if it's closing time.

So long it has been since I have felt alive. Wanting to climb out of this black whole, my life.

Expressing my thoughts as they go ignored. When did this begin, my mind starts to explore.

Did I walk away from you into the dark, as you stood there in the light, did I go to far?

I only wanted to make your dreams come true, I changed so many things for you.

My eyes still sparkle with thoughts of the past. Wanting to so badly, but you can't go back.

Forward I will walk out of this sea of sadness. Growing each day looking for myself in the blackness.
