Closed Captivity Poem by Darren Tyler Howard

Closed Captivity

Like a tiger in a zoo
I sit or pace
Because there is little to do
Meals are provided
so I eat to pass time
Doing Nothing:
I sit or pace
slowly, angrily dying.

People get mad
Because they are here for a show
But the tiger and I do not care
For little do they know...
I was not meant to be here.
Placed in a box and forcibly tamed
Stripped of dignity
and ignorantly named.

Wild and strong
And meant to be free.
I sit or pace
Thinking of the Tiger in me....
