Claim Poem by Shruti Goswami

Claim

Come and claim me back.
Can you?
The claim
The name
That once sounded so sweet
Under the canopy of leaves
That shielded you and me
From the raindrops that beat,
Now bitter
Memories
That shame.
Are you ashamed?
To call me yours
Open the doors
Of all that was love and faith;
Do not claim
Anymore
I have
Broken off my name
From yours.
