Church Of A Thousand Tears

Rating: 5.0

I've been a member of my church for years
and did not know that it was called
the Church of a Thousand Tears!
Not until today, I swear.
The lady who gave the opening prayer
today really gave me a jolt.
Her words hit like a lightning bolt:
'We are grateful that this is
The Church of a Thousand Tears'.
'Somos gratos que esta é
a igreja de mil lágrimas.'

As I listened to more and more of the prayer,
it finally became quite clear
that my old and decrepit ear
most assuredly did not hear
correctly. What she really said,
I'm sure, is
'Somos gratos que esta é
a igreja de milagres.'
Translation:
'We are grateful that this is
the church of miracles.'
O.K., now, I don't need to be so tense.
That really makes a lot more sense!

So happy to have not heard properly the first time, I am sure. Positive words to bring a smile.
