Christmas With Who? Poem by Lucille Martin

Christmas With Who?

Christmas
supposed to be joyous and filled with love
maybe some or none at all
to many people to please

Run to Grandma's
growing older and oh so fragile
doesn't even want to celebrate anymore
and yet i still bother with it

Dash to mom's house
seemingly blissful
yet hurt
she really cares?

Race back to Dad's
now of course mad
Christmas at home
now made so sad

Maybe Jake will be there
God i hope so
never home always away
come on, It's Christmas

Then, we break to the relatives
people get happier finally
everyone is talking
And will Jake show

And finally slowly, fraily
we make our way home
And on Christmas who is we?
is it we?

or just me
